It's time to move from surviving to thriving.
Meet Sam Barrons, LAMFT in North Phoenix and across Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, and Florida.
You’re tired of feeling overwhelmed, alone, and like nobody understands you.

Feeling stuck, unheard, and like nothing could possibly change is wearing you down.

The past is leaking into the present and your relationships are struggling as a result.

You want to empower change, but you’re not sure where to start.
This is where your journey begins.
I strive to create a warm, safe, and genuine environment where you can step away from everything that’s overwhelming you for a while. You can sit down with me, connect, and set down the burdens of life in an empathetic space with someone who truly sees you for who you are.
Clients work with me because I meet you where you are and center your individual needs in our work together. I show up for my clients authentically, curiously, consistently, and dependably while supporting them every step of the way. We will collaborate together on taking a whole-hearted approach to achieving real, sustainable, change in your life.
We’ll center authenticity and connection in a safe space where you can show up as your true self without fear of judgement.
Let’s practice being human together.

Come sit with me for a while.
You’ve tried connecting with other therapists and found yourself having to educate them on how your trauma or anxiety is having a negative impact on your relationships. Maybe you’ve had to explain how being queer or trans either is adding extra stress or anxiety to your life or isn’t what you’re in session to talk about.
Perhaps you’ve been too afraid to try therapy because you’ve been afraid you’ll be judged for how communication in your relationship has broken down, you have an ‘alternative’ relationship structure, or you’re struggling with leaving your house because of crippling anxiety.

I see you. I get it.

As someone who has personally journeyed through trauma, anxiety, and being a queer and trans person navigating a world not designed for me I understand the impact on relationships and mental health. I also understand how hard it can be to reach out to someone for help not knowing if they’ll be receptive to my authentic self.

When you sit down for a session with me you can rest assured that you not only are meeting with someone who has the training and education to assist you with achieving real change, but that you’re sitting down with someone who has been where you’re at and will hold space for you to truly be yourself.

Our Story

What do Winding Trails have to do with therapy?
The name Winding Trails Psychotherapy reflects my deep love of hiking and how trails can serve as a powerful metaphor for our journeys in life and therapy. Each trail is different, filled with its own challenges, and offers unique opportunities for growth and transformation. Just like the paths we walk, your journey through therapy is personal and distinct. It deserves a guide who will walk alongside you, supporting you without judgment. Whether you're facing a tough season, seeking personal growth, or trying to find your way through life’s twists and turns, I’m here to help you navigate the path at your own pace, with compassion and understanding.
